Gilt-y Pleasure

Okay, I am not sure if it is a good thing that I joined Gilt Groupe. I mean it's great to see all the sales and what's out there, but if I cannot buy it, it could be a bit frustrating. The good thing is I have something to post on my blog, and hopefully someone (with a bigger bank account) can buy it.

Gilt Groupe just started a sale of baby clothes from designers Amber Hagen, Helena and Harry, Lucy Sykes, Marie Chantal and Noa Lily. I liked the Tartan dress by Lucy Sykes but my daugher already has the same (well almost) in Ralph Lauren. The curduroy dress in pink by Marie Chantal is okay too for $45 reminds me of Suri and Carrie Bradshaw. I started paying more attention to dresses since friends from Manila told me to put on more dresses on baby so she won't be mistaken for being a boy (it's enough that she has a boy's name).

There are so many children clothes brands out there, it makes me want to have my own. A friend recommended I come up with a clothing line named Alex + Ollie (names of my daughter and her half-brother), maybe because it reminds her of Alice + Olivia. This brand is quite popular for Hollywood celebs like Tori Spelling (don't like her) and Laura Conrad (who?). It's actually for adults but they have a few stuff for kids. I love the tangerine silk party dress and the white scalloped dress (so Chanel looking) both available at Neiman Marcus at US$330 and US$275 respectively... sigh, why do I have expensive taste?

Designer Philip Lim also decided to come up with his own line for kids. Check out Barneys in New York. Of course it's not cheap too... a dress is almost US$200. Of course his model is a chinese lil girl (China really wants to rule the world, even when it comes to designer babywear).

Marc Jacobs also has Little Marc Jacobs and his stuff are pretty cool and funky. "I don't think there is anything wrong with giving a young kid, a taste of the finer things in life," retorts Marc said when he was interviewed about his line. Hmm... that just gives you an idea of how much the stuff costs. Yikes!

Even famed fashionblogger, the Sartorialist has Sartorialist Junior, which was inspired by his daughters. Look at how pretty and fashionable his little girl is. Now, that inspires me to dress up baby in case Scott Schuman comes to Hong Kong.

Okay, now I am glad I subscribed to Gilt Groupe, there is no way I can buy those baby clothes at full price. Now, I can't wait for their next sale!
