I can't believe Bolt beat the world record again. Gosh, is this guy some sort of freak or what? Don't get me wrong, I think he is fantastic! How I wish my daughter can run as fast as him so she can win an Olympic medal. Hmm... maybe I should get my daughter a pair of Pumas instead of her usual Adidas. School is starting so I have to buy her new pairs of shoes soon.

Of course, I saw not the only style that I like... this one is not from Puma though but from Converse...


My friends said I should get my daughter a pair of Dr. Kong so that her feet won't be flat. Apparently their shoes create an arch for children's feet. Gosh! Isn't there a brand that does the same that's not local? Maybe Stride Rite will do it...


These sneakers are cute but I think spelling out D-I-E-S-E-L is not my thing. Maybe I should check out the Hogan one that's on sale in Elements later...


Sigh! It's tough being a mom to a daughter and not be obsessed about shoes. I should listen to Bob Marley... "No woman, no cry..."

What a Pussy!

When you are living in Hong Kong, you will most likely end up hating Hello Kitty. It's because everyone is crazy about it... kids, teenagers, moms, etc. I saw a whole bunch of people lining up at McDonald's for the Happy Meal that comes with the kitty. What's worse was my daughter was pointing to it when I was buying a burger and had no choice but to buy it. Well, if it makes her happy! I was so pissed when my hubby gave me a Hello Kitty pillow thinking it would make up for something he did wrong. I ended up giving it to charity.

I was going around Harbour City today trying to look for a new pair of shoes for my daughter (as usual she has grown out of her Pedipeds again after barely using them). I was hoping I could buy a nice hi-cut pair of sneakers from Zara or a good pair from Le Coq Sportif but my daughter saw a pair of Hello Kitty crocs and was holding on to it. Good thing I distracted her and she let go but now, I am thinking if I should go back and get it for her, only because I saw the smile on her face when she saw it.

Lesson learned: When it comes to things your children love, no matter how much you despise, you'll have to learn to love it... so from now on, I love Hello Kitty!

Baby Couture

Pediped is out with their fall/winter collection for 2009. Guess what it's called? The couture collection! How fab! These are the perfect shoes for Christmas or New Year. I am leaning towards the Nadia style, not only is it the second name of my daughter, but it also looks divine in blood red.





Perhaps, she can wear it for her baptism in December? Maybe I can have her dress made by Katrina Goulbourn, her first couture gown. Hmm... that's an idea! I'm not sure about this Emperor look but I am sure Katrina make something interesting with some black and white embroidery.



Hmm, now I have an excuse to have a dress made for myself? Maybe I should talk to Joey Samson about it when he comes over. Now, I'm excited!

Potter Fever

There's so much hype about Harry Potter's new film now. Good thing I am not a Potter fan (at least not anymore, wink!). I think the effects are amazing and all but I'm just not the type who likes films about fantasy. Hated the Never Ending Story, Labyrinth and The Golden Compass! Ugh! Just can't stand it for some reason.

Not that I don't have any imagination and was never a child before. I enjoyed Robin Williams' Hook and loved Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell in that film. Maybe my daughter can dress up as a fairy for Halloween this year? What I liked was this costume I saw on The Emperor's New Clothes. They have a pretty good selection of stuff on that site. I'm sure my daughter would like to be a fairy. If not, she can always dress up as Spiderpig hee hee. As least that's original right?



I don't like Harry Potter but I love love love Beatrix Potter! Those lil rabbits are just so adorable. In fact, I want to get the whole book collection for my daughter. Or maybe someone can give it to her for Christmas? Hint! Hint!


I also saw this bedding with the Peter Rabbit theme and I also fell in-love with it. Perfect cause it's time to get new sheets for my lil one. Maybe I should change her animal themed- beddings to simply rabbits.



Oh shucks now I've caught the Potter fever, Beatrix Potter that is!

Chicken Feed

I'm so happy that my daughter knows how to eat by herself already. That's one less chore for me. Although, most of the time the food falls from her spoon and the instead of it being in her stomach, it's all over her face, table and floor. Good thing she has a nanny to clean up after!

Now, it's time to get her new tableware. I think her Winnie the Pooh and Sesame Street plates and bowls are still for babies.

The Skip Hop Mate set seems like the best option as the mat stays put in one place and is skid-resistant. The smiling face also keeps kids' entertained.


The TV tray plate from Baby Gap is really cute. Perfect for my daughter's mashed potatoes, veggies and pasta (of course not made by me).


I'm liking the Tommee Tippee feeding set except that I can't handle seeing so much pink!

Clip it to Me

My daughter's hair is long again! That's the problem with this bob cut ala Suri Cruise. She would probably need a haircut every month and a half or else her bangs are gonna fall on her eyes. Since I bought her a pack of clips from H&M that she has not used, maybe she can clip her hair for the meantime. They look cute on her anyway!

I was checking the fall/winter collection of Pediped (hehe, yes been looking at shoes again) when I saw that they are launcing a no-slippy clips as well. I am not sure how it works but I think I want one of those. I checked Hairclippy, manufacturer of the clips Pediped is launching, and saw these cute lil clips. Okay, that means baby won't be having a haircut soon so she can wear them.






Now, where did I hide my credit card? C'mon, they are only US$9! Wait a minute, is that expensive for a clip?

Rub a Dub Dub

The towels I got from Mothercare are already getting old. Since baby's been born, I have not bought her new ones yet. Been so preoccupied with what she is wearing, that I totally forgot she needs other things too. My bad!

Now, my daughter no longer needs her bathtub when having a bath. She has graduated from lying in her tub to having a shower with me in the morning. I actually enjoy these moments with her and find it cute when the water sprays on her face and she has this worried look (gosh, I sound like a sadist!).

I am thinking if I need to get her more toys for the bath but she seems to enjoy playing with her rubber ducky and floating fish from Finding Nemo still. I guess it's just me always thinking that my baby does not have enough of one thing. Not enough toys. Not enough clothes. Not enough shoes. And now not enough towels! Oh, what it is to be me...

With these adorable towels from Baby Gap Home, can you blame me for wanting more baby towels?

Idolizing Imelda

Have you noticed I have stopped obsessing with baby shoes lately? I have not posted about them for awhile now. I guess I got overwhelmed with all the shoes my Mom sent to my daughter and that kept me quiet for a while. Besides, my daughter just loves her Crocs so much, she does not want to leave the house without them. Good thing I did not buy her Gucci!

...Until I checked Piperlime! Aww, I miss my daughter's Chuck Taylor's. She has already outgrown them so she doesn't get to wear them anymore. She's been using her pink Robeez sneakers but no one compliments it like her former Converse. Hmm, will my Mom kill me if I ask her to buy another pair for her granddaughter? Maybe her feet will grow bigger by December and the ones she has now won't fit anymore. Now that's a perfect excuse to buy more shoes for my little Imelda!

For that military look, since my daughter acts like a tomboy sometimes...

Legs Legs Legs

I am so happy that my Mom is finally flying to Asia. She will be coming to Hong Kong and Manila with 4 of my aunts, plus my grandfather (he is turning 80 this year! I don't know if that is something he should celebrate). That's gonna be a riot! Some of them will be seeing my daughter for the very first time so they are so excited about it already. Their trip is not til December but they have already been asking me what they presents they can buy for my daughter.

Since they will be coming in winter, I thought about asking them to get my baby some leg warmers by Babylegs. They look so cute under a dress, skirt or just alone with a t-shirt (like leggings). Aww, aren't they so adorable!



And since December also means Christmas and birthday for me (don't bother asking what my age is), perhaps I can also tell them what I want as a present! Hmm... since I gave birth to baby, it seems like all the gift-giving cause to my daughter (I am not complaining), maybe it's about time, I get something too. Of course, if you ask me, I'd always say I want a new bag or a pair of shoes...

But this time, what I would like to try is the new OSIM Usqueez Warm. A leg and calf massager, perfect for the working mom like me. Hmm... seems like their new ads are working, even I am curious about it. Well, if it will help make my legs look like Lin Zhi Ling's (Taiwanese supermodel, their new endorser) then I want one too.

Only the Nose Knows

I had an enjoyable brunch last Saturday with my Filipino friends. Living in Hong Kong means craving for Filipino food once in a while, believe me eating congee and yum cha everyday is not fun at all! I was happy to eat tapa, tocino, longganisa, adobo and dilis for breakfast for a change. And for merienda (snack time), we ate fishballs, ube, pandesal with kesong puti with tsokolate. No wonder most Filipinos die of heart disease... (hope that does not happen to me, knock on wood!)

What's great about being part of a Filipino community is being able to share some tips about almost everything: food, furniture, clothes, shopping and stuff sold back home. My friend who just gave birth a couple of months ago showed us a little bottle of cologne she gave away for her son's baptism. It was not only handy and cute, but it was something you can actually use, unlike those useless giveaways other usually give. Hmm... since my daughter has not been baptized yet (planning to do it in December), maybe I can give away the same thing since the guests attending are different anyway.

She told me that I can also choose the scent to be placed inside the bottle. This is perfect since I have been looking for baby colognes for a while now and hoping someone from Manila can buy one for me. I wanted a scent that both baby and I can use. When my sister told me about Gotas De Oro, I was keen on getting a bottle ASAP. Another scent I like also is Tartine et Chocolat before, now that smells really good! These scents remind me of our high school days, fun and carefree (and had allowance from our parents, shucks)! Now, that's another reason why I should get myself a bottle, to remember good ol' memories.

Anyone flying to Manila soon? Unfortunately, neither Gotas De Oro or Tartine et Chocolat is available in Hong Kong.

Shake 'Em Booties

A friend of mine went to Central St. Martins in London to study shoe design. She moved back to the Philippines recently and is pregnant with her first child. She decided to pursue her passion, but this time making baby shoes. Awww, how sweet is that! I wish I can do the same for my daughter. Now, I'm excited to get booties for her. It makes more sense to get some this fall because she actually walks now, unlike last year.

A popular brand for booties is UGG, they seem to be everywhere now. I just got an email from Neiman Marcus announcing their new collection. In Hong Kong, teenage girls love them. The sad part is they wear them during summer. Eeks, they must have sweaty feet. That's more like UGH than UGG!

Four Seasons

I just love these pair of socks that look like shoes. One of my friends from New York sent them as a gift to my daughter and they looked so cute! My daughter always gets compliments when she wears them (plus points for her!). There are two leading brands that sell these kind of socks: Trumpette (which is what I got) and Jazzy Toes. I haven't tried the latter but I am sure they are just as soft. Get to choose from their many different designs... I think their Birks design for baby boys is just hilarious.



The sun is shining bright outside and it is getting more and more humid everyday but fall is slowly creeping up. Can you believe it's already July? Before you know it, winter is just around the corner. Gosh, I was just putting aside my daughter's old sweaters to give away. In a couple of months, I'll have to get her new ones. Oh boy! If I was still living in Manila, I didn't have to worry about the changing seasons.

The good part about the cold though, is getting dressed in a whole new getup. I'm pretty bad with dressing up for winter, only cause I don't really know how to wear scarves, layer clothes or walk in boots. I'm such a tropical girl by heart! But, after living shortly in New York, almost 4 years in Hong Kong now and traveling to Europe, I'm having a better winter fashion sense. It also helps that my hubby is Swiss and grew up with snow. I'm pretty excited cause he showed me some pics of the collection he is gonna launch this year. I guess that means free cashmere sweaters, leather jackets and fur coats for me. Now, I am looking forward to dressing up this fall/winter.

What gets me more excited are these socks from Miu Miu. Whoever thought that the best accessory would be a pair of socks. I guess times are changing. Would love to wear a mauve or black or dress to go with them and some pumps (hopefully my feet won't get hurt again). Can't wait to buy them!

Pretty Young Things

I am sure you are sick of hearing anything that has to do with MJ now. But, I can't help but think about his songs since they play them in our office. I'm now suffering from LSS- last song syndrome. "PYT. Pretty young thing...ahhh!" Okay, I'll shut up now.

Totsnob just featured a couple of pretty young things as usual such as this lil polka dot dress by Il Gufo which is on sale now at Saks Fifth Avenue. I'm not exactly crazy about polka dots in general but my lil girl will definitely look cute in this. Sugar and spice and everything nice!



Oh Chloe! Why do they come up with such beautiful things? Some bags of theirs are to die for. And these lil ballerina shoes for baby are so adorable! I think my daughter would enjoy ballet as she loves dancing, just like her mother! I wish they had these shoes in my size too.



Speaking of beauty and youth, there are two young women who are hitting the spot for me. Nope, I am not turning lesbian but I am sure everyone agrees they are hot. Watch out Penelope Cruz and Scarlet Johansson, these girls are on their way to stardom.

Pool Parties

Aww... my daughter has a cold again and this was after I took her to the pool last Sunday. This is the third time it happened so now I'm scared about taking her swimming now. Not good! I don't want her to end up not knowing how to swim like her ignorant mother. And it's such a waste to not use the 3 new rashguards my Mom sent. Don't ask why she got three of the same kind, I probably got my shopping habits from her!

It's been really humid for the last few days, that I thought about diving into the pool after walking home from work last night. And then I ended up getting lazy, after eating hubby's yummy bolognese (it's to die for) for dinner. Anyway, it's the thought that counts! Now, do you understand why I haven't lost any weight?

Was surfing when I woke up this morning. In between playing with Kooka, my new pet in Pet Society (I tell you it's addicting), I found some nice lounge suits that baby can wear by the pool. Okay, she can't go swimming again but that doesn't mean she can't walk around in a nice suit and wade in the pool. That's how I'm like anyway, when I go to the beach.

I know baby is too young for leopard prints but isn't this suit so pretty? I wonder if they have it in her size.

Run for your Life

I'm so happy I just got my daughter's shoes last night. I decided to brave the rainy weather and meet one of my bestest friends at her hotel. I did not regret it though. Nothing beats spending the night with a good friend, just catching up while looking for shoes. Apparently, she needed a new pair and I came to the rescue (that's what I do best anyway, shopping). Too bad she is leaving again today (sniff sniff), good thing she is coming back again in 2 weeks. That means she can bring more stuff for me and baby, yahoo!

When my baby woke up this morning, I was so excited I tried on her new shoes and they looked divine! Her Katelyn Pediped was still a bit too big but her feet grow fast anyway. They only last for 6 months or so (and then it's time to go shoe shopping again). Her pink and blue sneakers from Robeez was perfect though. I can't wait for her to wear them when she goes to playgroup this week. Am gonna let her try 2 new playgroups to see which one she enjoys the most.

I think her Pedipeds are too pretty for playgroup and I am afraid her Robeez might get worn out. Uh oh, I am tempted to get her another pair of sneakers she can alternate with her new one (it just never ends). I am liking this Adidas Superstar pair (especially because both of her Adidas shoes are too small for her now). Perfect, cause she doesn't have any yellow and green shoes yet (umm, who needs yellow and green shoes?!). I better schedule a trip to Citygate in Tung Chung to check out the Adidas outlet, their prices are almost half off. Maybe I can buy two! Bad idea!



Too bad, I already got my friend her baby shower present two weeks ago. I just fell in love with this Fisher Price/Adidas set where the shoes come with a little toy. I bought her the pink one since she is having a baby girl. Isn't it a great idea for a present?



I was also looking at other sporty brands like Puma to see if they have nice designs for babies too. Looks like they have a few pairs that are similar to the Adidas ones. Check them out...






I still prefer Adidas, what about you? But, I'm telling you when I saw the Le Coq Sportif sneakers in Ocean Terminal last week, my heart just melted. Too bad I can't find a pic on the net so I cannot share it with you. Don't worry, I'll take a pic of it in case I decide to buy it (which I hope I don't because it's not cheap).

Sigh, I am spending so much time looking at baby shoes that I still haven't bought any for myself. Why is that I have to think twice when buying something for moi but find myself being more impulsive when spending for the little one? I have to convince myself that the Varina flats from Ferragamo are worth it after the 30% off or the platform heels in Zara won't hurt my feet. And I find myself thinking that my daughter needs another pair of sneakers, gold shoes and red open- toed ones (to go with her new white dress). Oh, the woes of being a mom!
