Feedback from a Friend

I'm really happy I am getting good feedback from my blog and that you actually take time to read it. Thank you! Should you have any comments, please feel free to email me at karriebit@hotmail.com.

My friend was kind enough to write to me about her concern about my last post on mosquito bites and was worried that this gives a bad impression of the Philippines. Please wait for my next post on my trip to Manila (I promise it will be a bit more positive this time).

Also, she corrected me about my statement on Malaria in the Philippines. She is right, it's dengue fever that Filipinos are wary of, not Malaria. Umm, I think both are scary. I heard that a friend got dengue while she was pregnant. Thank God, both her and baby are safe and healthy!

Some precautions:

1. Use mosquito repellant spray or lotion. (my fave is California Baby)
2. Dress in protective clothing. (This would be difficult in Manila because of the heat but a pair of jeans instead of shorts or mini skirts would be good)
3. Keep windows and doors closed (same thing when you are in the car).
4. Stay away from places where mosquitoes breed (flower pots, canals, etc.)
5. Use mosquito net or "kulambo." (some prams like the Quinny come with mosquito covers)
