Blow Out the Candles
I hate this recession! It's the first birthday of my daughter and as much as I want to go all out, I have to keep things at a minimum. Anyway, I just visited my friend's place at Harbour Green this morning and was surprised to see what great facilities they have. It actually looks like a hotel! Their pool looks fantastic, I hope it is open by that time so the adults have something to do aside from pretending they are having fun.
She recommended I check out this Cartoon Network playground and it was such a nice place for kids. Very clean, new and not much people! I think my daughter was overwhelmed because I have never seen her so quiet before. Not that she wasn't enjoying it. She particularly loved the car and playhouse. What I found cute were the bathrooms for kids where the sinks and toilets were customized for kids. I wish I had a bathroom like that for baby. Well, she doesn't go to the toilet on her own yet so maybe not now.
Since it is a Cartoon network playground, the walls are full of Powerpuff girls. Even if I am not a fan of these cartoons. I mean come one, look how big their eyes are, they look like they are on something, I have no choice but to stick to the theme. I am wondering where I can buy some party favors and cake with the same design.
What sucks about being in Hong Kong is the lack of friends who have kids. Since most people come to work here for their careers, only a handful have kids. Or, maybe it's just me not mingling with parents. It also feels weird having a party for my daughter and not having immediate family around. Even her brother is in Paris! So, I have decided to celebrate it quietly and consider having another celebration in Manila (hit two birds with one stone and celebrate her baptism as well).
Of course my first concern was what will she wear... and what will I wear? I was thinking, should the mom receive gifts too when it's her daughter's first birthday? Hehe! Wishful thinking. Straight after the ocular inspection, I went to Elements which was 5 minutes away and tried on all these nice dresses. DVF, EQ IQ (Ive never worn anything from this brand before but their window display caught my eye) and saw a pretty clutch at Mulberry. How I miss working and earning my own income again! Sigh! Okay, I had to get out of the mall before I start becoming depressed.
Oops, I am forgetting it's baby's birthday not mine! Okay, my birthday wishes for her are the following:
1. Baby Gucci shoes. I know, I know! I can't forget about them. That's why it is called birthday WISH.
2. High Chair. I was writing about high chairs but have not posted it yet. I want a nice wooden high chair for her. Something like Tripp Trapp. Will post it soon promise!
3. Baby Cars. I'm not sure if that's the exact term for it, but it's those stuff she rides in. Duh!
4. Baby Pucci dress. Is there such a thing? I swear I think I saw Suri wear one.
5. Locket with Mommy, Daddy and baby's pic. Oops, that's for me! I just thought that since it is related to her then it's supposedly for her...
6. More Pediped... love it! This time, I wanna get her the Flex ones. For those in the States, it's cheaper there so I hope you can get this for her. (Abigail Navy or Isabella White)
7. Baby float from Its Imagical.
8. Baby tankini or rashguard at Old Navy. (She is not allowed to wear bikinis yet). Or if there are cuter ones in Roxy. In Hong Kong, there is a swimsuit that has a float with it at Bumps to Babes.
9. Booyah stroller liner so the next time she pukes, it would be easier to clean her pram. Eew! In Pink Metallic Dot to match her gray Maclaren.
10. Mustela shampoo, oil, body wash. I've been using California Baby but I am missing the Mustela scent.
11. Peter Rabbit beddings. Saw them at the baby warehouse today and they were cute. Matches the color of her bedroom walls. Or Peter Rabbit books. Don't you just love Renee Zellwegger in Mrs. Potter?
12. Tommee Tippee table ware. Microwavable bowls are like baby's tupperware.
13. Books. Books and more books. My baby just loves them especially the touch and feel ones or the ones by Eric Carle.
14. Barney DVDs. She loved watching them with her cousin in Manila.
15. Ralph Lauren clothes. Enough said.
16. Gift certicate at Zara baby. All her clothes are from there. Or if you are living in the States, Baby Gap please! She can model for that brand. The gingham dress is so cute and the I love all the Robeez shoes and baby espadrilles.
17. Babylegs. They are the new leggings for Spring or tights for Winter. Available in the States or via Indigo Baby in Manila.
18. Petit Bateau and Jacadi clothes. The quality of the material is so nice. Sigh, why do they have to be so expensive?
19. Toys. Toys. She can never get enough toys. The last time I went to Toys R Us though, I didn't like anything for her. She liked playing with Baby Alive with her cousin but she is too young for this doll. Reminds me of Chuckie in Child's Play.
20. Potty trainer. I am not sure what brand is nice but maybe Baby Bjorn?
Okay... okay, I know the list is getting long now but hell, it's my blog right? I'll limit it to 25, promise!
21. Ergobaby carrier. She is getting heavy so carriers would be helpful.
22. Trust fund. Is that supposed to come from me?
23. Trip to Paris and Switzerland to see her family and roots. Naks! Of course that includes a plane ticket for Mom and Dad (hint!)
I think the list is not realistic. Earth to Mommy?
24. Baby cologne. Gotitas De Oro or Tartine Chocolat. Promise it is not for me.
25. For those in Manila, this blue and white Gingersnaps bubble dress with a white ribbon.
Oh no! It's already 25...Okay the trust fund and Trip to Europe are not counted.
26. Again, in Manila. There is a play tent in Toy Kingdom that is so cute (apple- shaped). There is a promo if you buy over 500 pesos worth, it only costs 300 pesos (that's HKD50 or US$7!)
27. Toy Chest, I need to place her toys in one container cause our apartment is looking like a nursery. Oops, I guess that is not a gift for her.
28. Bath toys. For now she has her ever reliable rubber ducky and Finding Nemo fish. Maybe something more interactive?
I can't stop, it's scary!
29. Sleepwear from Marks and Spencer or Mothercare.
30. Photoshoot at Stork photography in Manila. Kindermusik classes in Manila (if we move there) or Hong Kong (we are still here)
Or since we are talking about the Philippines, a new nanny?
I never thought that this would be so much fun (Trust me, I can write like there is no tomorrow)! I think I am starting to be a "stage mom!" You must be thinking I am such a shopaholic mom by now. Kidding aside, my daughter just needs love and your presence on her special day. Hope you can join us. Will send invites later!
