Bitten by the Bug
Yes, I finally made it to Manila. Everything was smooth on the plane, my daughter just fell asleep after take off and when she woke up, she was smiling at the people around me. They were amazed at how comfortable she was on the plane.
It was a pain though not having a baby carrier (did not have the time to buy Ergobaby!) and carrying a handbag plus the diaper bag (that was me being stubborn) as I didn't want to put my handbag in the luggage. When you travel to the Philippines, you only get the pram on the conveyor belt together with the checked- in luggage. And if you're talking about the Manila airport, that could take forever! And if you are carrying a 10-kilo baby, that's not so fun!
Anyway, it was great to be home inspite of the traffic, unfinished flyovers and HEAT (in all caps!). My family and friends were happy to finally meet my daughter but there is something who's more than crazy about her- the MOSQUITOES!
She's got pearly white skin (thanks to her Dad) and now there are pinkish dots on her arms and legs. Aargh! It's not only the marks that drive me crazy but the fact that she can get sick from these naughty insects (crossing my fingers). Malaria is a common disease in a tropical country like the Philippines, watch out!
Good thing my cousin-in-law comes to the rescue! Met her at Via Mare, Rockwell (puto bumbong and bibingka- yum!) and she gave me my stock of California Baby. Yey! The bestselling product in Manila is the citronella bug spray and citronella SPF lotion (anti-mosquito lotion with SPF, how clever is that) and they are smelling gooooood!
Goodbye mosquitoes!
California Baby Products are available at Rustan's, Manila Polo Club, Beauty Bar, Big and Small.
