Baby TV
I know children shouldn't be watching too much TV. But when your daughter wakes up at 6am everyday, you'll be tempted to plop her in front of the screen. I don't have the energy to play with her at that time. It's more convenient for me to just turn on the tube to her fave channel CBeebies. I think this channel is pretty good for children. It's very well-rounded as it has music programs (Boogie Beebies), speaks about culture (Charlie and Lola's latest show was about Spain and traveling), also talks about animals and family life (Mama Mirabelle's Home Movies). Can you tell by now that I am the one watching all these shows? My husband finds it funny that I have already memorized the jingles.
Since I grew up in the US, I was accustomed to Sesame Street when I was a child. In fact in nursery, I came as Big Bird (not cute at all) for Halloween. My husband is half- English and so for education and culture purposes, we subscribed to the BBC channel for kids (CBeebies). Shame we don't have any French baby shows here although we have a few audio books in French I sometimes play.
When she was younger, I also put on the Baby Einstein language DVD but she didn't enjoy it as much and preferred the Fisher Price DVD on Baby Animals. She particularly liked the Koala Brothers and Clifford the Big Red Dog segments in this DVD because of the songs and characters.
Before my baby sleeps (Yes, I know she's not supposed to be stimulated before going to bed so she can rest well), she has to watch her fave Teletubbies. I've seen this program way too many times that my husband and I made our own version of the jingle... Teledummies... Stinkywinky, Dipshit, Kaka, Poo instead of TinkyWinky, Dipsy, Lala, Po. Hehehe! I hope my daughter doesn't hear us and get the characters wrong. Or else that's a major Booboo...
