Jazz Up Your Pram!

There's a lot of "pram talk" among mothers. "How's your pram? I hate my Quinny but my baby loves it." "Oh, The Maclaren is perfect for traveling if you want a light stroller." Those who overhear these conversations (especially those who don't have children) are probably thinking, "What the hell are they talking about?" What's funny is even dads have these conversations too. I heard my hubby ask a friend, "Isn't that the Bugaboo?" As if they were talking about the latest Porsche!

Since most prams are the same everywhere we go, what separates the one from the other are the accessories. Just how guys are with cars, they change the wheels, put up a posh sound system or paint it a different color. For prams, moms can personalize it with accessories.

At the barbeque party we attended yesterday, most of the moms had the Maclaren like mine but theirs had cool gadgets. Time to go to Bumps to Babes to get some!

One thing I saw that was really helpful are stroller weights. Light prams tend to tip over when a heavy bag is hanging on the pram (that happens to me all the time). Someone was smart enough to invent Tip Me Not. It looks like lil socks on the wheels but they are weights. I just love the color and lil heart on it. My "new" friend was using another brand called Buggyweights. I sure hope they aren't too heavy that I can't carry my pram anymore.

Another friend of mine had the Universal Organizer by Maclaren. Funny name, sounds like the universal remote control. Perfect for drinks, toys and other things you would like to carry with you when pushing the pram. Just make sure you don't put anything valuable or embarrassing like your vibrator because it's made of mesh!

What I want to get is the stroller liner! Perfect if you want to change the look of your pram. Plus it makes it easier to clean. I posted about the Booyah Stroller liners before but, if you want something cheaper, Maclaren sells them for US$25 (Booyah's was US$85).

The most basic accessory for the pram would be the stroller handles so you can hang your handbag (especially if your bag is the LV Speedy which is a no-no for Moms) or for the shopping bags you are carrying! This is my fave accessory since it helps me with my favorite hobby, shopping. I'm lucky my diaper bag already comes with straps so I didn't have to buy these handles. I don't like these tacky plastic hooks.

Another accessory I've seen recently is the buggy board. Now, this one thing I don't need yet since this is for moms who two kids (or more). The older child can step on this board while pushing lil baby. No need to buy skateboards anymore! Kidding aside, make sure your son or daughter doesn't play with this while baby is inside the pram (and you are not around) or else you will be sorry!

There are tons of other accessories such as stroller toys, cushions, cup holders, parasols, car seat adaptors, mosquito nets, rain covers, footmuffs, etc. So there are lots of things you can get for your pram, depending on your needs. Just make sure you don't overdo it or else your pram would look like those pushcarts selling crap or what they call the "kariton" in the Philippines.
