Three's A Crowd!

I just wrote about babyproofing the home to make it safe for baby recently. What I failed to mention is that aside from the house, what needs the most care and attention is your marriage. Stacie Cockrell, Cathy O'Neill and Julia Stone gives tips on how through their bestseller Babyproofing Your Marriage.

Having a baby is all nice and cute but could also mean changing the relationship of the couple. This book has a humorous yet real approach as to how to deal with issues post-baby which include arguments about the division of labor, dealing with the in-laws, the pains of going on family vacation and most importantly, the sex life or lack of one. What moms tend to forget is that no matter how much time and effort they make to raise their children, what's important for baby is to have a happy home and that includes not neglecting the hubby. What most people like about this book is it includes the issues of moms and dads that help moms realize what's going on in their hubbies minds...

The authors have noted down the most common issues of men and women. Can you relate to any of this?

What She Says...

"I wish my husband knew how tired I am after dealing with the kids. Sex is the last thing on my mind."

"In the early days, my husband would come home with comments like, 'Why don't you just nap when the baby naps?' or even better, 'My mom had kids. Your mom had kids. Why does this seem so much harder for you? I mean, c'mon, it's just one baby. What's the big deal?'"

"Why am I the only one in the house who knows where the pacifier, wipes and sippy cups are? Where the hell has he been living for the last three years?"

"My life is very well balanced if you exclude myself."

and He Says...

Nothing else matters. Nothing else matters. Nothing else matters. We have a great marriage. I'm a pretty easygoing guy. I can deal with finances. I can deal with problems. I can deal with 'issues.' I can't deal with no sex."

"I get zero recognition for work. It doesn't matter how tough a day I've had. I walk in the door and I have to be on."

"Now it's official. I'm one of those sad bastards at the airport pushing two kids in the double stroller, the baby in the backpack and fifteen pieces of luggage. I'm the family pack mule."

Now are those lines a bit familiar? Sad but true, these are the most common concerns of mom and dad after baby is born. This book is similar to Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus but focuses on couples who already have children. I think I am gonna buy myself a copy of this book. Would be helpful to see how other couples cope with all the new responsibilities of being new parents. The most important thing is to acknowledge these issues and be able to laugh about it. Brooke Shields recommends this herself!

Available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
