Gift- Giving

What best gift can a mother give her child on her first birthday? I was brought up by my parents believing that my birthday is THE most important day in the world and really make a big deal out of it. I can get anything I wish for on this special occasion (well nothing like a million bucks). This time, it's my turn to give on my daughter's birthday (gulp).

Well, there's always those Gucci pair of shoes or the Hogan sneakers (which I didn't buy for obvious reasons)... I also looked around for her first ride-on toy with my hubby today (got her something different from all the designs I've posted since none of them were available, boo!). Was planning to bring her to the 8,000 square foot playground in Cyberport called Wisekids, or the new outdoor park, Wetland in New Territories but the weather was not so good. I hung some Happy Birthday banners around baby's crib (of course I made sure she would not strangle herself with it) and sang to her many times today. She didn't blow any candles but will do during her party on Saturday, which is her official celebration.

Going back to my question, the best gift I can give my daughter right now, (apart from all my love) is that I am starting work again, at least temporarily (which explains the fewer posts, I'm sorry!). I know that is not exactly the ideal gift to give a young child but in this day and age, the most important thing we can pass on to our children is a happy environment and a stable future. Gosh! I am really sounding like a mom now.

Don't get me wrong, I am saddened by the less time I will be spending with baby. I am lucky that I don't necessarily have to be at the office the whole day so that's an advantage. I am just relieved and happy that I can provide her with a better life... than just a stroll in the park!
