If you don't have a baby, the first thing you would probably say when you see an exersaucer (a what?) is "What the hell is that contraption?" Well, for babies who already know how to stand (or just about to), the exersaucer is a mini- Disneyland trap.
At first, I refused to get one since it occupies so much space (and doesn't match our living room). But when my daughter tried it at a friend's house and I saw how happy she was in it, I thought I'd get one right away. Of course it's also a bonus that I can do my own thing while she is playing with it. F-R-E-E-D-O-M! New York Times calls it "Parallel Play"... while mom is on the computer or reading a book, baby can play on her own.
When my baby started crawling, she didn't enjoy the exersaucer anymore because she wanted to move and didn't like being stuck in it. So I got rid of it after. It's probably worth it to keep if you plan to have another baby soon (not me!)...
