For Love or Money
Tick tock tick tock tick tock... was rushing to go to my presentation when I left my daughter with her temporary nanny in Park and Shop yesterday. I was already late but I saw my baby's confused face when I left her with another stranger and felt so torn. Should I stay or should I go? I was already a mile away and poor girl was still staring at me. Awww! She's probably feeling a bit unstable having different people look after her.
(Unfortunately, I had to find another part-time girl since Rose is not free today. Am interviewing another one again tomorrow to replace Rose since she is not fit for the job. I couldn't count how many nannies my daughter had since I fired the first one. I actually almost thought about not going to work this afternoon and missing one of the most important meetings with our Macau team. Times like these... I need a Lucy!)
My daughter's face was stuck in my head while meeting with Ferrari. Cocktail party... test-drive...millionaires... in between my pitches, I was thinking of my little angel. I had to focus or else I wouldn't be able to get this account. I asked myself what is more important? Career/Money or Family? Unfortunately, the answer is both!
Since I was already in the middle of nowhere in Ap Lei Chau, I decided to comfort myself with a little cupcake from Babycakes. That was heaven! Vanilla cupcake with white and milk chocolate. Yum! I was enjoying my treat when I saw the different colored Maclarens parked in the room, little kids playing, moms gossiping about other moms... I missed my baby even more! I had to get out of there.
I thought it would be good to go for some retail therapy (wait! am I not supposed to be working?) so I breezed through Bumps to Babes. I can't believe the amount of stuff that a Mom could buy there! And I bet you that half of them, we really don't need. Good thing I couldn't go back to work with a shopping bag or a talking doll so I was forced not to get anything. Was tempted to get this book called Yummy Mommy, a survival guide for new moms. Maybe next time...
I guess all working moms have this dilemma. I wouldn't have felt so bad if I was comfortable with the one taking care of my daughter. Unfortunately, I still have to wait for my nanny's visa. Oh and I thought Filipino maids in Hong Kong were a dime a dozen. Finding the one true nanny for your precious one is very hard to find!
Tick tock tick tock tick tock... now I wish time would fly faster so Lucy is back soon.
